The day-care questionnaire is very important because day-care centers play a huge role in a child’s life, therefore, having as much information about them is a good choice so that parents can focus better at work knowing that their children are at the best of care.
When meeting with daycare directors or caregivers, don’t be afraid to ask as many questions as you need to in order to feel comfortable. It’s a good idea to have a written list with you so that you don’t forget a key query and be satisfied with everything that the facility offers before enrolling your child.
These are some of the questions to include in your Day-care questionnaire
- Do caregivers have first-aid/CPR and child development training?
- Is each child assigned to a primary caregiver?
- How many children does the central server, and what are their ages?
- What is the range of activities in which the children participate?
- How large is the center in terms of space generally, there should be 35 square feet per child in order for each child to have enough room to play comfortably.
- Is the center licensed? this is the first thing parents must know because day-care should be LICENSED and operates under the regulations of the department of social development.
- What happens if I need to bring my child early or pick him up late?
- Do you let kids attend if they’re not potty-trained or if they have a runny nose or a cough?
- How do you discipline kids?
- Is there an outside play area? Do kids use it every day?
- Do you ever take children on outings off-site?
- Will I be charged if I take a vacation or my child is sick?
It’s a great sign when a day-care gives you a formal policy that already answers most of these questions further questions can be based on Safety and Communication
- How does the day-care keep parents up to date on their kid’s daily activities or behavior?
- Feel free to ask if they offer daily reports that clearly states about the progress of the children and their developments?
- What security measures they take for the facility and making sure that it is safe for the children?
- What degrees or certifications does the staff have?
- What training do they have and the experience they have in taking care of the children?
- Ask if they conduct background checks on all the employees?
- Lastly, in your Day-care questionnaire ask if they have a nurse or someone in the staff that has medical care if they administer medicine and emergency allergy treatments?
