Our Philosophy at Nursery Schools Sandton

At Nursery Schools Sandton we are proud of our reputation for providing the highest quality care within a fun, caring and educational environment. Our philosophy is to nurture children through play and learning activities, to help them to grow in confidence, independence and social skills. We play an important part in their formative years by making every day a learning opportunity and a time for discovering new skills.

Our children get ready for ‘big’ school and enjoy the foundation stage curriculum through the exciting and stimulating delivery of the early learning goals. Nursery Schools Sandton work closely with all the parents ensuring that both child and parent receive the individual care and attention they require.

Curriculum:

Foundation Stage

All children are supported in developing their potential at their own pace. Nursery Schools Sandton strive to plan a curriculum that is in line with nationally approved learning outcomes and the seven areas of learning within ‘The Foundation Stage’ which prepares children to progress with confidence to the National Curriculum at the age of 5 years

At Nursery Schools Sandton We Use Six Areas of Learning:

Communication and Language

In both small and large groups, children are encouraged to extend their vocabulary and fluency by talking, listening and by hearing and responding to stories, songs and rhymes.

Literacy

Children are introduced to reading and writing. Using their phonic knowledge to read, write words and sentences and eventually enabling them to read independently.

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Within a nurturing environment, children are individually supported in developing confidence, independence and self-respect.

Understanding of the World

A safe and stimulating environment allows children to explore and experiment with a range of natural and manufactured materials. Children are also encouraged to enjoy many festivals and events from a range of different cultures.

Physical Development

A range of equipment and opportunities, both indoors and outdoors, allows children to develop confidence and enjoyment in the use and development of their own bodily skills.

Expressive Art and Design

Children safely explore a variety of materials, tools and techniques, experimenting with colour, design and texture. They represent their own ideas, thoughts and feelings through design and technology, art, dance, role-play and stories.
